Soaking it all in & memorizing the equipment

The leg press
Single positive

Works the Gluteals, Hamstrings, Quadriceps and illiopsoas

Enter from the side of the machine. Allow your back to rest against back support. Grasp handles firmly. Place feet on the pedals with toes about one inch over the top of the footpad. Power forward. Back slow. Avoid moving rhythmically to the music. If person is very short, the square back pad may be placed at lower back. Back pad is not needed for most people.

Must memorize all of the equipment before going to Curves Club Camp, which muscle groups they work, and the script for teaching others. Annie is way ahead of me, but this 46 yr old mind can still hum. I can do this.

I loved reading Gary Heavin's Ten Keys To Success. He is the founder of Curves Intl. Here is number #1: If you want to know that grand thing for which you were designed...you've got to know the grand designer. What is your foundation in life? As a born-again Christian I know that I have great value, that I am created in the very image of almighty God, and that His plan for my life is infinitely superior to mine. As a result, I have tremendous self-confidence and a clear value system that allows me to be reliable and trustworthy. I am able to forgive myself and others which frees my mind so that I have time to dream and perform the hard work of achievement. I know that I am building on a foundation of rock rather than sand.

Rewind to August 2nd, 1992 TONY was BORN!

And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. Mark 9:35

My youngest turned 15 a few days ago, how did this happen so fast?! He is not a young boy anymore, but closer to being a man. How did my little baby who was born 8 lbs and 2 ounces (same as his birthday!) turn into this tall teenager going into 10th grade who loves to play his guitar, loves doing things with family and friends, has an awesome voice and sense of humor, is working and earning money now, planning for a car, then college? I love to watch Tony develop, he has a strong dignity, wonderful mind, and compassionate and very loyal heart. He is one who is always looking for the needs of others, constantly putting himself last, letting others can go before him. He doesn't demand attention or rights - he is 15, but not a showy, cocky kind of guy. This is one of the things that I love that God has developed in him, he spends very little time talking about himself or trying to draw others attention to himself. He is one that thinks through situations and how they affect others, and much of the time will find quiet ways to lighten the load of others without anyone even realizing. This is a strength that many adults do not have. I thank God that this is in him now, that it will carry into his adult years as a husband one day, and a father. My prayer for you, Tony, is that this gift will be used all of your life. That God will use your life greatly to care for hurting people who are hard to love, and that when you show mercy to others they will be reminded that Christ came to save men's lives, not to destroy them. I have learned a lot from you, Tony. I love you and I thank God that you are my son!

Curves For Women

In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps. Proverbs 16:9

After many months of talking, listening & learning, & most especially praying, I am the new owner of the Crandall Curves Club, as of August 1st! Who knew that I would be this, a year ago...I sure didn't! Thank you God for this opportunity. To be part of helping women get physically fit for life, and do it myself, is really meaningful to me. Here is a place where people encourage each other and build friendships, even in the short 30 minute workout!

I know that I would have made some very foolish decisions, were it not for the encouragement and advice from several men that God gifted me with their wisdom and experience: Dick Murphy for planting the idea in me in the fall of 2007, for looking at figures and information that didn't make sense to me, and continually giving me the confidence to even consider pursuing this opportunity. Chris Ewing for the time that he took to look over figures, and lead meetings that, I knew that I was not capable of. He gave his advice and time even during times that he was very busy being a husband, & Dad of twins and a 3 yr old! Alan Austin for time that he gave me several times also to look over tax statements, sort through my thoughts, and consider factors that I would not have known. Jon Burt for his legal advice, careful to protect me from any problem that I might not have seen. I am very thankful for all four of these men....I have learned a lot from each, more than they realize themselves. Most especially I appreciate that they all encouraged me, did not ever laugh at my complete lack of knowledge in so many things! I have much to learn about business, but they gave me a belief that I can do this. I am also very thankful for a few friends and family that have been praying for me, regarding this decision, for their encouragement over the last 10 months or so.

I am the new owner of Curves...I heard myself saying this to the water dept in Crandall, when I walked in to pay the deposit and get service transferred into my name. I pondered the meaning of that sentence....new owner...for a while afterward. What does this mean? I am the new franchise owner of Curves, what do I own? I don't own the building, nor the company. I do not own the women who come to work out. But I do own the responsibility to keep my promises to the landlord to pay him every month, also my agreements for the utilities, music licenses, royalty and advertising fees, internet service, etc. I own the responsibility to do the very best that I can to balance the staff working schedule, the payroll, maintain the equipment and club itself, and learn all that I can about many areas of fitness. I own the responsibility to balance between my full time job at Edward Jones, my commitments at church and in the community, my home, yard, animals, car, and wellbeing of my children, extended family and other friends that I care about. God give me the strength to manage well, learn from others that are wiser than I am about business. Help me to have the right balance for each area of all of these responsibilities, not shorting any, and cause me to glorify you more in each place. Help me to be a better steward of the monies that you provide for my family. Help me to be able to give each employee the hours that she needs, while trying to build this club back up to a thriving place for women of our community to come to! Thank you for Annie, that you gave her an opportunity to have acquired some experience in working within the Curves family already, and that she is ready to learn more, and very capable of handling challenges as they come. Thank you for the wonderful employees that are staying with us, their willingness to help us to learn and grow the club together!

Sleepless night

In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 5:3

Lord thank you for the life of this child that you have made! Thank you for the opportunity that you gave all of us, these few years of waiting, hoping, and praying for this child, to grow our faith in you. Thank you for both sides of her family, who are so ready to know her, love her, be part of the shaping of her life. Thank you for all that you do to cause us to believe in you, trust you in more areas of our lives. Lord cause this child to be full of faith, full of praise for you! Let her be one who will be compassionate, as you are, and will you give her a great mercy for others, instead of judgement? Thank you for Walker and Dollye, that they put their requests before you, and that you chose to answer in this way! Thank you for their desire to raise her to know you! Thank you that Annie and Tony, Deb and Lisa and I, were invited to be present and a witness what you have made, so many months before you even bring her into this world! We got to see her brain, see her legs kick, her long fingers, see her heart chambers, HEAR her heart! How amazing you are Lord. As you knit her together in Dollyes womb now Lord, I ask you to protect this child, and protect her parents. Give them patience Lord, give them strength, and a great joy as they raise her knowing that she is your child!
